چکیده

The grid is a promising tool to resolve the crucial issue of software and data integration in biology. In this paper, we have reported on our experience in the deployment of bioinformatic grid applications within the framework of the DataGrid project. These applications inquired the potential impact of grids for CPU demanding algorithms and bioinformatics web portals and for the update and distribution of biological databases. Grid computing tests showed how resources sharing improves the current practice of bioinformatics. Reached performance demonstrated the interest of the grid tool. 2004 Elsevier B.V. EVALUATION OF HMGA2 AND SMARCA5 GENES EXPRESSION IN 4T1 CELLS EXPOSED TO METHOTREXATE: BIOINFORMATIC AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

Background & Aims: Breast cancer is a threatening disease in females and is the second common cancer among women after lung cancer. The aim of this research is to bioinformatically and experimentally evaluate the effect of methotrexate (MTX) on the expression of HMGA2 and SMARCA5 genes in the MTX treated 4T1 cancer cell line. Materials & Methods: To perform this study, initially microarray dat...

Bioinformatic and empirical analysis of a gene encoding serine/threonine protein kinase regulated in response to chemical and biological fertilizers in two maize (Zea mays L.) cultivars

Molecular structure of a gene, ZmSTPK1, encoding a serine/threonine protein kinase in maize was analyzed by bioinformatic tool and its expression pattern was studied under chemical biological fertilizers. Bioinformatic analysis cleared that ZmSTPK1 is located on chromosome 10, from position 141015332 to 141017582. The full genomic sequence of the gene is 2251 bp in length and includes 2 exons. ...

STUDY OF HMGA2 GENE INHIBITION WITH SPECIFIC SHRNA AND SIRNA AND INVESTIGATION OF CORRESPONDING EFFECTS ON DOWNSTREAM GENE EXPRESSION IN MDA-MB-231 CANCER CELLS: A BIOINFORMATIC AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

Background & Aims: The use of siRNA to silence gene expression is increasingly expanding today. The aim of this study is to bioinformatically and experimentally investigate the inhibition of the HMGA2 gene and its corresponding effects on downstream genes expression rate in MDA-MB-231 cancer cell treated by shRNA and siRNA specific to HMGA2. Materials & Methods: To perform this bioinformatic a...

BioGPS Descriptors for Rational Engineering of Enzyme Promiscuity and Structure Based Bioinformatic Analysis

A new bioinformatic methodology was developed founded on the Unsupervised Pattern Cognition Analysis of GRID-based BioGPS descriptors (Global Positioning System in Biological Space). The procedure relies entirely on three-dimensional structure analysis of enzymes and does not stem from sequence or structure alignment. The BioGPS descriptors account for chemical, geometrical and physical-chemica...
